Well, he turns 60 today and since our paths crossed back in 2015, I have seen him transform his life into an enviable experience of fun, adventure, freedom and friendship.
And so today, reflecting on our time together, I'm feeling both proud, and humbled to be a part of such a powerful story, and can't think of a better man to celebrate on this week's success story post.
If you haven't met the legend already, this is my good friend Roy Simmons.
I have helped Roy to tell his story of medical redemption dozens of times - in my programs, in my book, Thrive by Design, and in one of the very first episodes of my first podcast - The Blueprint (you can listen to that one below)
It's a testament to his trust, hope, and the power of grit, determination, and resilience.

But today I want to honour the man and his legacy.
Roy has a passion for adventure, which translates into a love of learning new things and a zealous pursuit of the abundant life.
Roy has now mentored literally hundreds of young people, including my own.
- through his work in alternate education programs with me, through Mini Heroes and Adventure Quest. Through the wild One-wheeled Wackadoos. Through the Nature School. And the dozens of young people that come across his path as he helps out the community in different ways.
He has an awe and respect for the traditional custodians of our land and is active and connected within the Aboriginal community. I recall him marvelling as he tells me about how he gets to be a part of workshops that help Aboriginal people relearn skills like weaving that have been lost over the last 2 centuries - and how he gets to be a part of that!
He doesn't just tell his story, he lives it. Day by day, smiling brightly, blessing others, and getting excited to do all he can to live his best life!
And as if pushing the boundaries of living wasn't enough - in the last year I've seen him besotted with his new grand-daughter. A new wonder in his life that inspires him even more.
Roy, my friend, if you're reading this, I say with the utmost respect - that I'm proud of you.
And I am 100% convinced that you're a man of blessed purpose and there is even more that heaven wants to reveal through you as you live out your story. I can't wait to see what's in store... All my love and best wishes to you on this special day. ❤️💪🏼🎂
