From healing to politics

March 20, 2023

Well this is different!

We've had plenty of conversations about shaking up the status quo, about being willing to think differently - but most of those conversations revolved around the domain of education.

TODAY we're talking with Michael O'Neill who has spent many years helping to heal people using natural remedies - but NOW has boldly ventured into the wild world of politics - and in many ways paid dearly for his choice.

The Gifts From the Edge podcast is about celebrating those who have taken the path less travelled, and in doing so have made a significant difference in the lives of others. In 2016, Michael O'Neill formed the Informed Medical Options Party to support families who were being victimised by the unfair and unconstitutional 'No Jab, No Pay' legislation brought in by the liberal government under the direction of the then health minister (and later Prime Minister) Scott Morrison.

In more recent years, we have seen during the Covid-19 drama, Morrison use similar tactics to vilify and marginalise those who opted to take their own personal approach health and wellbeing, rather than fall into line with unjustified government and industry mandates. On the matter of restoring an individuals right to make their own medical choices without punishment or deprivation - Michael and I share the same view.

As you'll hear on the interview, we don't align in every way - but we respect one another's right to a voice. If life, no matter whether it be the conversations we have with our children, the words we speak to our partner, or the way we interact at work - we honour one another by listening, and by respectfully sharing our views. It is my sincere hope that this is something that we can see more in the political arena.
